After dinner on Christmas day, I drove my brother-in-law back down to his Navy base in Corpus Christi (about a five hour drive from up here in Army territory near Fort Hood). On the way back home, I stopped on 6th St. in Austin at about 3 a.m. to smoke a cigarette. I could not believe the number homeless people who were sleeping under the highway overpass or up against buildings or in alleyways all over Austin. I have never seen anything like it in my life. I wish that I had had a video camera to record it an show it to people. This Christmas season, remember those who didn't have a Christian dinner or a warm bed to sleep in.
