Holy New-Martyr Alexander of Munich
I have been derelict in my blogging duties lately, but did not want to miss the opportunity to introduce those who may not have heard yet to the newest saint of the Orthodox Church: The Holy New-Martyr Alexander of Munich, or, in life, Alexander Schmorell. Schmorell, along with several others, with martyred by the Nazis in 1943 for his participation in The White Rose, a group which spoke out against Hitler and the atrocities of the Nazi regime. I have been engrossed in his story and in the story of all of these brave young people lately and would like to recommend a few resources for those who are interested. I can't recommend enough taking the time to learn about St. Alexander -- truly a Saint of and for the modern world!
