The problem I have is that you are equating atheism with the political oppression of the USSR. You present it as an either/or...ie atheism always leads to unjust political oppression and Theism leads to justice.
It's a false dilemma, a straw man at best.
Wouldn't you object if I said that Christianity alwats leads to an Inquisition and Religious wars (Crusades)....
